About Us!

Welcome to Grain & Smoke PAINT Studio! This page is where you can find basic information about us to answer most of our Frequently Asked Questions

My goal with my studio is to create a safe, bright, happy, and welcoming place for people of all kinds to come and create! We LOVE getting to know new people as they become regulars with us and we LOVE meeting fresh new faces too! We have created a little craft family here and we enjoy every second of it!

We cut EVERYTHING you see online or in studio ourselves to order. You are truly shopping local and small when you come to us for a fun day out.

Grain and Smoke, what does that mean? NO we are NOT in any way a smoke shop of any variety! We named our previous business as a play on words based off what we were selling and how we created it! Grain is for the wood grain of all the projects and Smoke is the smoke from the machines we use to cut everything for you! It worked well before we opened a studio and we just carried it over! One day I would love to rename it to Tia's Paint Studio, but thats an explanation and change for another time!

ANY ONE is capable of painting here! 0 skill is required to come and have a good time with friends and family! Every project we offer you paint one piece at a time like a puzzle and then glue it together to create your final project!! We walk around and show you basic things if you want to learn something new to make your project pop like shading, splatter, dotting tools, etc. but if you are intimidated none of that is required! You can be as creative as you wish. We are here to help the entire time.

We are a CLASS BASED paint studio! What does that mean? We do not have walk in hours. Every class we offer is listed by month and you must pre-register online to reserve your spot! If there is something you really wanted to paint from our catalog and you do not want to book a private event you can EMAIL us to see if we have any open availability in one of our already scheduled events!

Visit the HOST A PARTY TAB to see how you can privately reserve an event for your friends or family and for our KIDS BIRTHDAY PACKAGE info!

Below are a few guidelines we are implementing in 2026:

EVERY PERSON attending MUST have a ticket:

We count inventory on our website based on available seats. Our studio is only so big. We have previously been very flexible about people bringing their children or sometimes drivers or spouses will stay etc. but as we grow bigger we can no longer accommodate that. No ticket, no seat ?

(This does not include kids classes as we count 1 parent to 1 child painter ratio for our inventory! Please limit bringing 4-5 family members for 1 child to paint ?)

CASH PAYMENTS:

We will no longer accept cash for class tickets (retails sales in store we will still accept cash). You must be able to checkout on the website to reserve your spot, NO exceptions. We have done a lot of growth this last year and every class is almost full now. I am just one person, it is too difficult to keep track for me.

NO EARLY ARRIVALS!

We expect you guys to start coming about 20 minutes early but we have had people show up and come in up to an entire hour before class. We are using that time to prepare and set up or get other things done, we will no longer be opening the door until 20 minutes prior.

TIME LIMIT ENFORCEMENT:

*For Public Events: We have a proven time frame for every class listed based on the projects offered during it. We estimate times based on our slowest painters to ensure there is plenty! Going forward we will enforce the end time for class every time. If you do not finish it will result in you having to take your project home and we do NOT send paint or glue home so please come to have fun, but focused to respect our time ?

*For Private Events: We already allow you guys in 25 minutes before to throw some table covers on and minimal decorations before your start time that does not cut in to your paid party time. If you need more than that I need to know during the booking process so we can charge a small fee to accommodate extra time.

NO SHOWS:

We have previously been able to move no shows around to other dates but that’s become increasingly more difficult as every class is larger. We will be offering make-up times once every other month until August then no makeup days during busy holiday season! You will have 2 weeks to pick your projects up, we will no longer store them because there are SO so many! ?

BLANKS:

Please DO NOT buy a ticket on the website for class for a take home project. EMAIL US so it does not remove a seat from class for someone else. We are working on a way for you guys to buy blanks separately but it won’t be done for a while.

CONTACTING US:

The best and most efficient way to get ahold of us is via EMAIL. We DO have a phone number but we are often busy in class and cannot answer it for you so if you want to get a reply email is the best way for that! We do answer the phone when we can, it just isn't the best way to reach us!
